Blackwater Community College Lismore, Waterford

The development at Lismore, Co. Waterford took place in five phases while the school remained operational.


Phase 1: A new two-storey, 28-classroom secondary school building was constructed. This phase included a full-size GAA pitch, two all-weather pitches, four ball courts, a refurbished sports hall, a new fitness suite, 85 parking spaces, roadways, pathways, and landscaping.


Phase 2: Refurbishment of existing school buildings added 30 classrooms, science labs, prep rooms, staff areas, locker rooms, offices, and social spaces. New paved courtyards, two ball courts, and additional landscaping were also included.


Phase 3: Demolition of existing structures made way for a new GP Hall, changing facilities, construction studies rooms, technology prep rooms, and outdoor teaching spaces, along with bin stores and bicycle sheds.


Phase 4: Refurbishment of buildings added new classrooms, central activity spaces, withdrawal rooms, snug rooms, and external SNU teaching areas.



Phase 5: Restoration of a historic 1871 Gothic Revival school building, listed as a protected structure. This phase included additional classrooms, storage, reception areas, sensory rooms, sensory gardens, extra car parking, and landscaping.
